Your health is your future...
This is the area associated just below the waist line. It consists of two wing like structures (Pelvii) with a triangular piece of bone in the middle called the Sacrum, on top of which the spine is seated. The thigh bone(Femur)) is seated into the sides of the Pelvis on either side, making the hip joints. The lower end of the thigh bone(Femur) forms the top part of the knee joint. The Nerve supply to this region comes from the lower back and the triangular piece of bone which the spine sits upon. This area of the Nervous system also supplies the organs of the Pelvis such as the Bladder and Genital organs.
Pain and discomfort in this area can often be associated with lower back problems, due to their structural association. However local soft tissue injuries relating to Hip joint and surrounding pelvic structure can also arise. Muscular injuries associated to the hip joint itself due to overstrain during heavy lifting and sporting activities such as football, tennis, cricket, golf to name a few; put a lot of strain onto this region. If this occurs symptoms involving local hip pain, joint stiffness loss of mobility and particular problems during standing, walking and running can be noticed. Sometimes a muscular injury related to the hip can cause referred pain, pins and needles, shooting pains and cramps into the lower limb. Because of the hip joints importance in weight bearing, in later years the stability of the joint itself can become an issue. Discomfort around the hip can also cause problems sleeping on the affected side.
