Your health is your future...
The Skull sits upon the first part of the spine, the Cervical region. There are seven bones (Vertebrae) that make up this part of the spine. Inside the spine is the Spinal Cord, the Nerves that arise from the neck, supply, (amongst other things) the head, neck, arms and hands. The Muscles and Tendons in this area can connect between the head and neck. They can also attach locally to areas in the region such as the base of the skull. Ligaments are associated to the joints locally, for example, the individual Vertebrae.
Headaches, such as Tension, Migraines and Cluster. Neck stiffness, which can be associated with the loss of a particular direction of movement. This can often be noticed when driving a car or watching television. Sometimes people can find it difficult to get comfortable at night, often blaming the pillow or mattress, waking up in the morning feeling as if they haven’t had a good nights sleep. Loss of strength in the neck where the head feels heavy. Stress and tension across the top of the shoulders. Whiplash injuries from car accidents, heavy falls. Difficulty in working at a computer for any length of time. Referred pain from the neck, causing pins and needles, numbness and sometimes loss of strength, say in the hand grip, can occur when the nerves associated with the neck are affected by an injury. Some conditions can cause creaking and grinding noises during neck movement. This often associated after an injury or in later life.
