Your health is your future...
The elbows are made up from two bones in the forearm (the Radius and Ulna), connecting with the lower end of the bone in the upper arm (the Humerus). The two joints formed have there own associated Muscles, Tendons Ligaments and joint capsule, a number of Tendons and their associated muscles run through the forearm into the hand; hence the elbow is directly connected to the wrist and therefore hand movements. The nerve supply to the elbow comes from the neck.
Soreness and pain around the inner and outer aspects of the elbow ( Golfers and Tennis elbow). To suffer pain in these areas doesn’t mean that you have to be playing the named sports, but there is an association. People who are manually orientated such as builders, workmen or even an ambitious housewife with her cleaning can experience problems. It usually suggests a problem with the Tendon attachments at the elbow relating to the overuse of the Muscles in the forearm and hand. This can be of a varying degree.
Difficulty in carrying shopping, opening doors using screwdrivers and other manual tools are an often complaint. The pain can often be worse at night and effect sleep, having been upset by the day’s activities.
Other conditions involving joint stiffness and loss of movement can occur, tenderness around the joint with the fear of knocking the elbow on a door etc.
