Examples of mood disorders are:
- Anxiety, the commonest of all unpleasant human emotions.
- Depression of mood, with sadness or foreboding; exceeding the client own capacity to justify or explain. He may covey a general and intolerable deterioration of himself and the world as a whole.
- Unreasonable exaltation may be expressed.
- Frank excitement, which is clearly inappropriate and abnormal relating to the clients circumstances.

- Obsessive compulsive symptoms
- Ideas of reference.
