What Can Acupuncture Treat?

previous page | contents | next page

There are many illnesses which are treatable with acupuncture, but sometimes a person may not have a "labelled condition \ illness", and may just feel "unwell" or "not right" in themselves. This is the body being out of balance, I'm sure you must have felt it yourself at some time. Some people walk around in this condition for years thinking, "nothing can be done", or it's something they must "just live with", or they simply "don't want to cause a fuss", you probably recognise or have often heard these phrases. This is not the reality in the majority of cases. It is always worth asking the acupuncturist if any help can be offered, if you do not see your condition listed or, if there is not a "name" for the way you are feeling.

Conditions include:

Emotional

Neurological

Digestive

Gynecological

Respiratory

  • Sinusitis
  • Repeated attacks of common cold
  • Bronchitis
  • Asthma
  • Tonsillitis

Musculoskeletal

Eyes \ Ears \ Nose \ Throat

  • Sinusitis
  • Sore \ dry eyes
  • Tinitus
  • Gingivitis
  • Sore throat

Miscellaneous

  • M.E.
  • Stress
  • Smoking
  • Addictions
  • High \ low blood pressure
  • Immune system enhancement

These are some of the treatable conditions. It should also be noted that some people decide to have acupuncture to help maintain a good balance of energy (the aim is to guide the body to achieve optimum homeostasis, the bodies self regulating mechanism) and to feel even better. The aim of receiving acupuncture in this way is to try and prevent a condition from establishing itself, seen in a similar light as your check up at the dentist.
