Your health is your future...

There truly are some magnificent sites in China. The Chinese saw the body as a complete universe in it's own right. This means the sun, rain, rivers, mountains etc. are all in existence within us. We all know what happens when the sun beats down upon a river with a dwindling supply, it eventually dries up, the land begins to form crevices as the moisture is depleted from the ground. All the surrounding wildlife is in great danger as the main life force has been removed, many die and the fittest survive. Is it due to the sun being too hot? or the supply too little?
These are similar to the questions an Acupuncturist or Chinese Herbalist would ask themselves to evaluate certain treatment principles. For example do you, or do you know someone who suffers with dry skin? They often use many moisturisers to try and alleviate the dryness, which works well temporarily. A little like pouring a bucket of water on the dry riverbed, that area of ground will become moist again - until the sun takes this moisture, which is only a matter of time. What needs to be dealt with here is the root of the problem, either the sun needs to be cooled, or the source of the river needs to be fed.
The photo depicts the perfect balance when things are going well, a full river of calm water, lush vegetation amongst sheltering mountains with a cooling sun in a clear blue sky which has stated to turn orange as the sun sets.
The aim of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is to achieve these aims as much as possible. The aim being to create the perfect picture, and one exists within all of us. Some need not be adjusted, but for others it is vital before serious dysfunction occurs. It's worth remembering that it is much easier to treat a condition in it's infancy rather than when it has developed and taken root. Like a weed in your garden, if it is left, it can become a problem to get rid of as it has established it's own root system, and therefore feels comfortable - why should it get up and leave?
